The founding LINC team include members with strong backgrounds and considerable experience and demonstrated expertise in science, medicine, and business.
Kenneth W Narducy, PhD, MBA. LINC corporate co-founder. Dr Narducy is a veteran with over 25 years in the biomedical industry. He has worked in big pharma (Abbott Labs, Schering- Plough) and raw startups (Oculex Pharmaceuticals and Centaur Pharmaceuticals). He has managed R&D organizations including research, product development, regulatory affairs, and clinical development. Oculex, an ophthalmic drug delivery company that he helped found, was purchased by Allergan in late 2003 for $230 million. Dr Narducy earned his BA at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, his PhD at Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
J Michael Delmage, PhD, MBA. LINC corporate co-founder. Dr Delmage has been a pharmaceutical/biotechnology expert and executive for more than 25 years. He has been a key manager in companies involved in the development and commercialization of cutting-edge biotechnology products (Chiron, Celtrix), therapeutic drugs (Santen, Senetek), and medical devices (SBH). He was also a co-founder of Oculex, an ophthalmic drug delivery company that was purchased by Allergan in late 2003 for $230 million. Dr Delmage holds a BS in Biological Sciences from California State University at Long Beach, a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
John S Torday, PhD. Scientific founder and Scientific Advisory Board chairman. Dr Torday is Professor of Pediatrics and Obstatrics/Gynecology Director of the Perinatal Biology Program, and Director of the Harry L Guenther Laboratory for Cell Molecular Biology at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, CA. He has been in lung research for over 25 years, with particular interest in fetal lung development, pulmonary surfactant biochemistry, pulmonary fibrosis, and chronic lung disease. Dr Torday received his BA from Boston University and his Masters of Science and PhD from McGill University. Before joining Harbor-UCLA in 1998, Dr. Torday held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School (1976-1991) and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1991-1998).
Virender K Rehan, MD, FAAP. Scientific co-founder and Medical Affairs Advisor. Dr Rehan is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Director of Neonatal Intensive Care, and Associate Director of the Neonatal Fellowship Program at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, CA. He is Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and in Pediatrics. Dr Rehan received his MBBS and MD from Delhi University College of Medical Sciences. He continued his training in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool, Dublin, London, Edinburgh, and Canada before joining the faculty at the Brown University School of Medicine in Rhode Island in 1995. He joined Harbor-UCLA in 2000.
